Boundary Stream and Shines Falls

27 October 2022

After a late getaway due to two lots of roadworks and traffic, we picked up the Napierites at 9am so didn’t begin walking till 10.40 from Pohukura Rd.

It was a beautiful clear day with a welcome breeze and 5 of us really enjoyed our tramp.

We saw clematis flowering as we drove to the track, the bush was tinged with dark red as the rewarewa was also in flower. We saw tui, kereru interacted with a lone robin and heard Kaka though couldn’t see them.(no gray ghosts)

Our morning tea stop was at a pretty stream, then proceeding on down to the falls we lunched. As we have had plenty of rain, the falls were splendid. The treat for for the day was a shining cuckoo singing away while we had our lunch.

As we walked out to Heay’s access Road we joined 6 others who had ambled in to the falls from Heays Access Road. Thanks to all participants and to Christine for driving. and welcome to Jurgen and Steve on their first outing with us.

Party: Christine H, Rodger B, Garry S, Lynn W, Roy F, Barbara P, Des S, Scott C, Juergen G, Steve B and Joan R.
